When building it is essential that the structure adheres to all council requirements, a case of matching the right products to the specific needs. For many years clear roof sheeting served a dual purpose, allowing natural light into commercial buildings, but also in the event of a fire when the skylight burns out it provides a degree of venting allow the excessive heat to be released from the building before the roof reaches a point of collapse. In recent years some council’s have had requirements for skylights that will burn out at low temperatures. It was for this reason that Ampelite introduced SS40 into the New Zealand market. SS40 is manufactured from polycarbonate which not only offers the strength and durability needed for commercial buildings but also has a low melt point. When Mitre 10 looked to build their new Mega store at Lunn Ave in Auckland’s developing suburb of Mt Wellington, it was important that this new building met the council’s requirements. Along with this, it was essential that the store was built to the highest standard with quality products from well known suppliers. “SS40 is unique; we are seeing more people asking for it on jobs. As we showed with the Lunn ave Mitre 10 Mega we are committed to offering the best product and ensuring it does the job it’s meant to do,” says General Manager of Ampelite Kerry Andrew. “Mitre 10 has a long standing relationship with Ampelite, when we asked them to supply clear roofing that would comply with the council requirements SS40 was the obvious choice” says Tony Bullock National Property Manager for Mitre 10.
